On a date night you want your makeup to look perfect. You don’t need to be a makeup artist to create a super fun and flirty look fit for an evening of romance. There are several ways you can easily create a low maintenance yet alluring look. Simply follow our tips and you’ll have a beautiful date night look ready for your big night.
A slightly dewy base looks amazing for a fun and flirty look. Firstly, you may want to use a moisturiser as a base. If your skin is oily then a mattifying moisturiser is a good way to control oil. Then, use a light foundation or tinted moisturiser and apply all over the face – MAC face and body is a nice, light but buildable foundation and Laura Mercier Oil Free Tinted Moisturiser is great for those with oily skin who want a lightweight base.
To conceal any blemishes, dark circles or imperfections, you’ll want to use a little concealer. For blemishes and imperfections its best to use a heavier coverage concealer, such as the Becca Dual Coverage Compact Concealer. For under eye concealing opt for a light reflecting concealer, such as Laura Mercier’s Secret Brightener. Setting your makeup with powder will ensure it lasts throughout the evening. Finally, apply a sweep of blush over the cheeks. A beautiful, shimmery blush, such as Nars Orgasm Blush which will highlight cheekbones and add a healthy glow to your complexion.
A neutral smoky eye is a great look for either a low key or more sophisticated evening. Neutral shades suit most eye colors and shapes. Depending on how smoky you want to go, you can always add darker neutral shades to complete the look.
For an easy neutral eye look, start by applying a base color to your lid. If you have oily eyelids you’ll want to use a primer beforehand. For a base color, MAC Blanc Type eye shadow makes a great base due to its nude shade. In the crease, apply a brown shade, such as MAC Brun and blend out. In the center of the eye lid apply a shimmery golden beige, such as MAC Era and blend. In the outer corner of the eye, a taupe shade, such as MAC Satin Taupe looks amazing blended out and brought down onto the bottom lash line. A highlighter shade can be applied to the very inner corners of the eyes and under the brow bone – MAC Crystal Avalanche looks incredible when used with a smoky eye. Finally, add a black liner to the top lash line. If you’re comfortable with application you can take this out into a winged line. Then add a black mascara to the upper and lower lashes.
To complete your makeup look, adding a pink lipstick will help to achieve a feminine, flirty and playful tone. Pink lipsticks are also great for making your teeth appear whiter too. MAC lipstick in Girl about Town or Lovelorn are both gorgeous pink shades that will compliment a neutral smoky eye. For a budget option, try Revlon Colorburst Lip Butter in sweet tart or lollipop.
